Born in Montpellier in 1970, Abel Pradalié lives and works in Paris.
He graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1998.
Without waiting for the return to figurative art, which has been flourishing on the French scene for several years, Abel Pradalié, trained at the Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studios of Vincent Bioulès and Jean-Michel Alberola, has turned to this approach of painting since his beginnings.
Featured in several recent exhibitions on contemporary French figurative painting, such as “Immortelle” at the MO.CO in Montpellier in 2023 and “Luxe, calme et volupté” at the Malmaison in Cannes in 2024, Abel Pradalié has been developing a body of work for almost thirty years that draws on a masterful, often subverted classicism.
Abel Pradalié constantly revisits the subjects of great painting, particularly landscapes and female nudes.
He is simultaneously part of the tradition of studio painting and, even more significantly for him, that of working from life. Through this immersive observation, the artist reveals, beyond the subject, his own relationship with the landscape, both tangible and internal. His paintings are a dialogue between art history and the intimate; they are an epicurean work where the past merges with the present
