PRESS RELEASE

Hans Georg Kern was born in 1938 in Deutschbaselitz in Saxe, near Dresde. In 1961 he changes his name in Baselitz. He lives and works in Munich.


Painter and sculptor, Baselitz pratices regularly engraving since the beginning os the 60's. He is considered like one of the greatest engraver of his generation.


He attacks brass, wood or linoleum plates with as much violence as control that we can find in his painting and his sculpture.


The Galerie Catherine Putman, French editor of the artist since 1997 show the last prinst of the artist and some gouaches and inks from the series "Remix". Since 2005 Baselitz works back on former themes and composiitons of the 60's and 70's, illustrating a dialogue with his early work.
