PRESS RELEASE

The Catherine Putman Gallery has been working with Geneviève Asse for a number of years and has been the editor of her prints and engravings since 1999. The gallery is to devote a monographic exhibition to the French artist for the first time.


About thirty recent pieces, titled « impressions » by Geneviève Asse, are to be on display, including; oils on canvas; oils on paper and collages. In those blue works - which are separated by white or red lines traced with a ruler - Geneviève deals with the themes of light and space.


A selection of drypoints, etchings and aquatints are to be exhibited as well.


Geneviève Asse was born in 1923, in Vannes (France). She currently lives and works in Paris and l'Île-aux-Moines.


Her work is on display at the exhibition elles@centrepompidou located at the National Modern Art Museum, Paris (27th may 2009 - 24th may 2010). Geneviève is also the subject of a retrospective exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum, Rouen (26th november 2009 - 28th february 2010).
